Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Veena Murthy Vijay
Eminent Kuchipudi exponent Veena Murthy Vijay was conferred the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (Akademi Puraskar) for 2024 in recognition of her distinguished contributions and excellence in Kuchipudi dance.The award was presented to her by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
A distinguished practitioner and exponent of Kuchipudi, Veena Murthy Vijay has made significant contributions to the preservation, promotion and enrichment of the classical dance tradition. Her sustained dedication, artistic excellence, and contributions to the propagation of Kuchipudi have earned her national recognition.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, one of India’s foremost national honours in the performing arts, carries a cash award of ₹3 lakh, along with a Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
