Noida, Aug 28: IIM Lucknow – Noida Campus welcomed Dr. Purva Mittal, Special Monitor, National Human Rights Commission, during her visit to the Campus on 25 August 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to review and discuss the Institute’s ongoing efforts towards fostering a safe, inclusive, accessible, and equitable environment for students and employees.
The proposed initiative could provide working professionals with disabilities greater access to opportunities for higher education and professional development, while encouraging organizations to invest in inclusive leadership and career advancement.
During the visit, Dr. Mittal reviewed the Institute’s practices and initiatives relating to accessibility, inclusion, gender equity, and support for persons with disabilities. She also interacted with female employees and students, as well as officials with disabilities, to hear their experiences and understand the measures being undertaken to create an inclusive institutional environment.
Prof. Satyabhusan Dash, Dean, Noida Campus, and Col. Gurinder Singh , Head Administration, briefed Dr. Mittal on IIM Lucknow’s initiatives towards women’s empowerment and inclusion. The discussions covered initiatives through the IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre, along with academic support provided to students with disabilities, including scribe assistance and additional examination time, wherever applicable.
The Institute also apprised Dr. Mittal of the functioning of its Internal Complaints Committee and its compliance with applicable statutory provisions. Prof. Garima Mittal, Prof. Anita Goyal, Col. Gurinder Singh Retd. and Ms. Swapna Verma presented an overview of gender representation across student programmes, staff, officers and faculty.
The discussions also covered the implementation of applicable Government of India provisions relating to Persons with Disabilities and the accessibility facilities available at the Noida Campus. They include ramps, wheelchairs and washrooms accessible for people with disabilities, just to mention a few, to promote ease of accessing and participating in.
The proposed corporate outreach aims to connect PwD professionals with executive education opportunities, helping them strengthen their professional skills and advance towards leadership positions. It also highlights the need for institutional and organisational structures to provide avenues for the participation and progression of persons with disabilities in the world of work.
The visit ended with a discussion on enhancing institutional practices on equality, dignity, accessibility, and inclusion. The engagement further solidified IIM Lucknow's commitment to build a workplace where students, employees, and professionals of different backgrounds have access to opportunities and meaningful engagements and seamlessly move ahead.
