Guwahati, July 21: Assamese feature film ‘Rador Pakhi’ (Morning Sunshine), directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dr Bobby Sarma Baruah, has received the Jury Special Mention – Super Mama Award at the International Film Festival Made by Women in Moscow.
The film was officially selected in the Competition Section of the international festival, held in the Russian capital from July 8 to 12, 2026. The recognition marks another important milestone in the film’s journey across national and international film festivals.
Directed by Dr Bobby Sarma Baruah, Rador Pakhi (Morning Sunshine) draws inspiration from the real-life journey of writer Sarmistha Pritam. The film revolves around Jyoti, an aspiring writer from Assam who is diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at a young age. Despite facing severe physical challenges, her determination to live independently and pursue her dreams forms the emotional core of the film.
Expressing her happiness over the recognition, Dr Bobby Sarma Baruah said, “This journey became even more meaningful as our film received the Jury Special Mention – Super Mama Award. Receiving this recognition on an international platform is truly an honour and a proud moment for our entire team.”

Before receiving the recognition in Moscow, ‘Rador Pakhi’ had established a strong presence on the film festival circuit. The project was selected for the NFDC Film Bazaar Co-Production Market and later premiered in the Indian Panorama section of the 55th International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2024.
It was subsequently selected for the Asian Spectrum section of the 21st Third Eye Asian Film Festival in Mumbai, the 23rd Pune International Film Festival and the Indian Competition section of the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival in 2025.
The film was also selected for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, the 20th International Film Festival of Thrissur and the Mosaic International Film Festival in Canada in 2025. Its selection and recognition at the International Film Festival Made by Women in Moscow in 2026 further expanded its international journey.

The Jury Special Mention in Moscow further strengthens the international journey of ‘Rador Pakhi’ while bringing wider recognition to meaningful cinema from Assam and Northeast India.
