But that record may get broken by the upcoming action movies, because 2013 is packed with some of the amazing concept action movies. Director behind Oscar nominated movie Pan’s Labyrinth, Guillermo del Toro is back with one of the biggest action movies, The Pacific Rim. The movie will bring you the fight between giant robots and giant monsters. With amazing action sequences we’re sure the summer is going to be heartthrobing for action lovers.

Man of Steel

Director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan are ready with their upcoming American superhero movie Man of Steel, featuring Henry Cavill as Superman. Christopher Nolan had an idea to covert the story of David S. Goyer into a movie, which promises to be the best action-n-ethic centric movie of 2013. Henry Cavill is the first non-American actor to be cast for Superman’s role.

Star Trek Into Darkness

Yes, it’s the sequel to 2009 Star Trek directed by J.J Abrams. While Starfleet is under attack, members of USS Enterprise try to find the responsible and settle the scores. J.J Abrams, who is mostly secretive about his films, has recently granted the wish of a dying Star Trek fan to see the movie. Most of the 2009 Star Trek actors are retained in this movie.

A Good Day to Die Hard

Yes, the next movie of Die Hard series is ready for release with some action pack scenes form Bruce Willis aka John McClane. But this time he is not alone, as his reel-son Jack (Jai Courtney) will be fighting alongside him with some terrorist groups. So this time we can expect doubled action this time.

G.I Joe Retaliation

After 2009’s G.I Joe – Rise of Cobra, this is the sequel where Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis are introduced new into the G.I Joe team. With Cobra commander is released and G.I Joe team being accused as traitors, we can expect lot of action from this John M. Chu directed movie.

Iron Man 3

It’s being said that, this Iron Man movie is going to be the biggest than the previous two with Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) to kill Iron Man. There are also Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian and Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen, the brains behind the creation of Extremis. Jon Favreau has stepped down as director, became the executive producer and Shane Black has commanded the direction of Iron Man 3.

Kick Ass 2

Although Big Daddy died in the Kick Ass, but there is still the Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Kick Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) to do some ass kicking as in Kick Ass. With new characters it’s going to be much adventure for Kick Ass and Hit girl to deal with new and craziest villains. The movie is set to release in June 2013.


While there is still time for next Mission Impossible movie, actor Tom Cruise is back with a science fiction action movie Oblivion, based on the Radical Comics graphic novel. While on a mission to extract remaining resources from Earth, which has been evacuated after war with Scavs, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) pulled into situations where he starts questioning about memories, existence and truth. The movie is pack with action sequences with Morgan Freeman as one of the leading characters. The movie set to release on April 2013.

The Wolverine

Next installment of X-men series is here with Hugh Jackman reprising his role of Wolverine. In this sequel Wolverine travels to Japan to train with a Samurai warrior and also meets a past enemy to confront with. The movie is directed James Mangold, who has directed Tom Cruise’s Knight and Day. A motion poster of the movie Wolverine has recently released with the movie coming to theaters in July.

Thor – The Dark World

The sequel to superhero movie Thor, Thor – The Dark World will be coming soon to your theaters. With most of the characters reprising their roles, Thor faces a new enemy, who is itself older than the universe, to save the world to go into darkness. The movie is set to release on November 2013.

There are also some other action movies coming this year like Hansel and Gretel Witch hunters, Matt Damon’s Elysium, Hunger Games – Catching Fire and Brad Pitt’s World War Z. We guess we’re pretty sure that 2013 is going to be big for action and VFX lovers.
